Our Story
Ohri's culinary legacy dates back to 1976 when visionary entrepreneur, Ravi Ohri, laid the foundation for a futuristic brand in the hotel industry. Capitalizing on the success of its very first venture, Hotel Baseraa, the label soon spread its wings across Hyderabad and established its place as a chain to reckon with.

Havmor (now Eatmor) restaurant, the first restaurant opened by Amar Ohri’s maternal grandfather in Basheerbagh in 1976, and which runs to full houses till date.Known for its bestseller Chhole Bhatute even today, Earmor's heirloom recipe captured Hyderabad palates with its home-made robustness, right from the word go.
Baseraa, born from the inspiration of Amar's father's admiration for The Oberoi Grand in Kolkata, emerged as one of Hyderabad's earliest standalone hotel brands. Located in Secunderabad during the '80s and '90s, it became an iconic symbol of Hyderabad's hospitality. In 1998, Amar Ohri assumed leadership of Ohri's Cuisine Court in Basheerbagh, overseeing operations while his father managed finance and projects. Together, they introduced Gufaa, a popular cave-themed restaurant. Amar's inherited expertise propelled Ohri's from four to 28 diverse brands, offering a range of dining experiences, from jungle-themed to Persian cuisine. His focus on clear roles and processes played a pivotal role in Ohri's enduring success as a brand.Regards,
In response to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, 2020 was a year of adaptation for Amar Ohri and Ohri's. With periodic lockdowns affecting their business, they had to cope with financial outflows like rent and salaries. This year forced them to think lean and become more agile in their operations.
2021 marked a phase of restructuring post-Covid. Amar took decisive steps to ensure the survival and growth of Ohri's. This involved retiring underperforming brands, including 1857, 70MM, Outswinger, De Thali, and Nautanki Galli. Instead, the focus shifted to key brands like Sahib's Barbecue, with its Hyderabadi menu and unique offerings like Tauliya Naan.
The year 2023 saw further expansion plans for Ohri's. The brand had grown to encompass 18 brands and 40 outlets, with more in the pipeline. The national expansion was in the works, targeting cities beyond Hyderabad for brands like Qaffeine, Sahib's, Cock & Bull, and Cake Nation. Amar Ohri also started considering the brand's future, contemplating scenarios where his children might not continue the family legacy. Despite challenges, Amar remained dedicated to upholding the Ohri's legacy of serving Hyderabad and beyond.
